What is Your Wordpress Dream Theme?
March 13th, 2008 Aizat World News
After changing to a new webhosting, I planned to design a new theme for taszara.com. I think it is almost 4 months taszara.com in the world wide web. And the first theme I used is the free theme from clazh by Arpit Jacob. And then I learn a little bit on how to design my own wordpress theme. And now this orange theme is my experiment theme in my process of learning to create my own wordpress theme.
This is just a short survey from me to you about your wordpress dream theme.
Single column, 2-columns style or 3-columns?

The most common theme that bloggers like to use is the theme with two-columns. But for the purpose of money making, people will use the three-columns theme where they can put a lot of adverts, products, promotion, adsense, and affiliate like Catzer, azwanhadzree,
It is seldom to see the single column wordpress theme being used. People who used the single column wordpress theme is unique and dare to be different than millions of bloggers in the world.
Sidebar: Left or Right?

Sidebar on the right is the most popular style in wordpress blog. This is because usually we use our right hand to navigate using the mouse that also on the right side. And if we put the sidebar on the left it is a bit weird because we move the cursor across the screen whereas it is easier if we put the sidebar on the right. If we have 3-columns themes, we can put the 2 sidebars on the left or both on the right or one on the left and another on the right. Perhaps we can try to put the sidebar at the bottom of our blog or at the top? Means that on the down side or up side of the blog. Also consider a sidebar right?
Fixed Width or Fluid Width?

Nowadays the monitor is getting bigger and bigger and you can get 19inch LCD monitor with only MYR699. And the screen resolution also getting higher. My laptop use 1280 x 800 pixels itself, I love widescreen. I think today the minimum size of screen resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels. But there is also peoples who use 800 x 600 pixels today but in a small group of them. Fixed-width layouts are very common as they give the developer more control over layout and positioning. If you set the width of your design to be 720 pixels wide, it will always be 720 pixels. If you then want a branding image spanning the top of your design, you know it needs to be 720 pixels wide to fit. Knowing the exact width of each element allows you to lay them out precisely and know where everything will be. This predictability makes fixed-width layout by far the most common layout method around.
With liquid layouts, dimensions are set using percentages instead of pixels. This allows liquid layouts to scale in relation to the browser window. As the browser window gets bigger, the columns get wider. Conversely, as the window gets smaller, the columns will reduce in width. Liquid layouts make for very efficient use of space, and the best liquid layouts aren’t even noticeable.

kalo aku lebih suke 3 kolum..memacam leh taruk..
Of course 3 column, and left sidebar. Cause with 2 column, you’ll end up having to scroll down more which needs to be avoided. Anyway…what did you use to design wordpress theme?
for me. 2 column – sebab xsuka srabut sgt. right sidebar – dah biasa, kalo ade website left column terasa pelik je. and mestinya fixed width sebab tak nampak serabot lagi. Hehe.
I like 3 sidebar, but i think I wanna move to magazine style when I got more posts
mana ada banyak iklan kat tempat aku
sikit aje
my kids blog has 1 sidebar, maybe if i start filling it with photos only i would change to a single page wordpress blog with all the others at the bottom.
