Hello all bloggers!!! I would like to share some of my amazing experience working with some foreigners who came to Malaysia to study about our country’s culture, food and not forgotten our national language, Bahasa Melayu. At first, i was being offered by my lecturer to be a language teacher for 3 foreigners. They are Anna from Chile and a spouse, Joanna and Donald from Arizona. They will stay in Malaysia for a month to learn about language, culture and Islamic religion with more details as they are all Muslims. I was quite surprised at first when they did told me that in their own country, Islam is not as free to be practised as in Malaysia. I guess this might be happen after the incident of september 11. However, they were attracted with the advertisement at their embassy about this program which being organized by another foreign student in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. So they were come to Malaysia and stayed here to attend a class till they grad. It sounds interesting right???
So,our class began on monday till thursday for two hours and this class continue for a month. On monday till wednesday, I will taught them about Bahasa Melayu. I just have to teach them the most basic lesson in Bahasa Melayu such as grammar, verbs and creating new sentences for use in their daily conversation with others.
I’m very glad to be their teacher eventhough some of us may feel that i just wasting my time teaching them with something that is very easy and maybe sound stupid for me. But i do really enjoy it, though. On Tuesday, we’ll be going for a trip around Kuala Lumpur to show them about the city of Kuala Lumpur. We went to Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and as i expected, they are all were very impressed and excited to visit the most highest building in our country. Not forgotten, we had visited the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan. Actually it was my first time also being there and we do really enjoy our trip to the Masjid.
By then, time just goes very fast and it’s already a month for them to be in Malaysia. After all, they went back to their country and they did promised that they will be back in Malaysia again. I really appreciate my experience working with them and I hope I will get more chance to work with some other foreigners again who would like to know more about our country.
