Josh Hamilton is a self-admitted alcoholic with no less than eight trips to rehab in attempts to counter his alcohol and drug addictions. It got so bad that he was forced to set out three years of his major league baseball career until he got his act together. When he was reinstated, he signed a deal that he would suffer three drug tests per week to ensure that he was not taking any mood-altering substances.

Josh Hamilton told the press Saturday that he was not “mentally fit” to have dinner in a bar that served alcohol when he went into the Tempe bar. He said that he thought he could handle one drink, but one led to another and the drinking snowballed.

“Obviously, it’s one of those things that reinforce that I can’t have alcohol,” he told reporters.

“Obviously, I did something very wrong,” josh Hamilton said. “That hurts me very deeply, too, but the biggest one is Katie. The question gets asked, ‘What if I saw something like that with her?’ Obviously, it stirs up a lot of thoughts. It’s tough.” He said that as soon as he had his relapse, he called and informed his wife, his team (the Texas Rangers), and the MLB organization. Katie, his wife, forgave him (even though there are a few provocative pictures of Hamilton and women who are not his wife).
